Star of Christmas - Choir
We have a special opportunity coming up for our school. Bloomfield Foodland has asked us to come to their store on November 27th at 3:00 to take part in a video with staff and community members. Sobey's and Foodland are having a competition in each Atlantic province for stores to record the Sobey's "Star of Christmas" song. The winning store in each province will receive $5000! If our Foodland wins it would mean $5000 for our school music program!
If your son or daughter is participating in the choir, a media release form will be sent home this week to allow the film to be published on facebook and used for other purposes. Forms should be returned before the end of this week. We will be meeting around 3:00 after school dismissal. Your child will be dropped off at Foodland by the buses but they will need a drive home. We encourage as many parents as possible to come for 3:00 as well so sing along with us.
More info can be found here:

Rock Band Tryouts - Here's what you do
If you are auditioning for Rock Band this week, this is what you have to do. Remember that it doesn't have to be perfect, I'm just looking for how quickly you can learn something. I might be showing you how to do it during the audition.
As a note, keep in mind that each of the two bands have 12-15 students that want to join but I only have room for 8 to 9 students in each band. Preference will be given to grade 5 and 6 students as they only have one to two years left to play with the band whereas the grade 4's have 3 more years at Bloomfield. If you don't get into the band this year then you will be in the band next year!
Vocals: Song of your choice. Must have a youtube "karaoke" version to use for singing.
Drums: Basic rock beat using the bass drum, snare drum and hihat. Music is here. x is hihat, lowest note is kick drum, middle note is snare.

Rock Band - New Song: Adele - Rolling in the Deep
Guitar:
Here is a link to get the guitar players started on this song. We may not play the exact chords he is using but the video is great for understanding how to count this song. You have to stay on each chord for the first beat of the next bar. Watch the video and figure it out! Good luck.
Piano:
Very cool and easy to follow piano tutorial.
Drums:
Follow the link for a drum cover of this song. Try to play along. You don't have to do everything he does but please try to get the basic rhythm sounding good.
Vocals:
There are many many videos explaining how to sing this song. I picked this one because it includes a vocal warm-up and shows you where to breath during the song. Give it a try. It's a long video so feel free to skip around.
Bass:
British guy giving you some good advice.
